I think if I weren’t taking pictures, I’d enjoy being a writer, lost in a children’s picture book, daydreaming.
It’s been a while since I started Silver Pennies and I find I’m still learning and defining my story, my STYLE. I think its likely to evolve a bit here and there over time, forever. But there is one thing I know for sure.
I AM A STORY TELLER.
There are lots of styles of beautiful photography out there. If you’ve looked at my work, it’s more often than not, LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY. So you might wonder, what does that MEAN?
Lifestyle photography combines the candid nature of photojournalism with the preparedness of traditional studio portraiture.
Lifestyle photography is a type of photography that mainly aims to capture portraits and people in real life situations in an artistic manner and the art of everyday. The primary goal is to tell STORIES about people’s lives.
This is one of the reasons there isn’t a Silver Pennies Studio. Your everyday life doesn’t take place in front of a backdrop or perfectly posed in a room you’ve never been in before. This is also why I don’t use props or really even pose my subjects very much. There is arranging without staging. Any props in my images are YOURS and have MEANING to you.
My favorite photographs from every session are candid.
Most of my work is organic & natural looking. That is by design. It is quite simply what moves me. I think it’s the best way to showcase your connection to your family. There is a timelessness & purity in sweet, natural, happy people, just being themselves.
So for my work, it will be laid back, simple in color, style, and posing. Sessions will be outside, in your home, or in a sentimental location 100% of the time. It’s the best way to illustrate you & your LOVE.
